About Westwind
I started Westwind in North Chili in 2002, after twelve years installing furnaces for another company. Today we’re six: me, four technicians, and Linda, who runs the office and answers most of the calls.
We take turns on call every day of the year, so when a furnace quits on a holiday, one of us answers and one of us comes out. Every van carries the parts that fail most often, which is why most no-heat calls are fixed on the first trip.

What customers say
Fall tune-up done in 40 minutes. He showed me a cracked igniter, replaced it for $110, and the price matched what Linda told me on the phone.
Good tune-up, and they texted photos of the coil before and after. One star off only because I waited two days for it during a June heat wave.
They replaced our 1994 furnace and the central air in one day. The quote gave us three options, and nobody pushed the most expensive one.
Two companies told me our old steam boiler had to go. Westwind cleaned it, replaced the low-water cutoff, and it ran all winter.
We added a ductless heat pump upstairs. The rebate came off the invoice like they said, and the bedrooms are finally warm.
Our furnace quit at 6 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Someone answered on the second ring, and a tech was here by nine with the part already on his van. We’re on the plan, so there was no holiday charge.

Questions we get asked
How often should a system be serviced?
Once a year each: the furnace in September or October, the air conditioning in April or May. Boilers need a yearly cleaning too, and oil-fired ones most of all.
Do you do emergency call-outs?
For no heat, yes, every day including holidays. An evening or holiday visit is $95 more than a daytime one, and plan members don’t pay it. If you smell gas, leave the house and call 911 or RG&E from outside first.
How long does a replacement take?
One day for a furnace or central air in most houses. A boiler takes one to two days, and a ducted heat pump two to three.
Do you offer a service plan?
Yes. The Comfort plan is $18 a month for both tune-ups, next-day service in a cold snap and 15% off repairs. Boilers have a plan of their own at $21 a month.
Are you licensed and insured?
New York has no statewide HVAC license, so we hold the certifications that count: NATE for our technicians and EPA 608 for refrigerant. We carry liability and workers’ comp insurance, and we’ll email the certificate to you or your landlord.
Is a heat pump enough for a winter here?
For most houses, yes. Cold-climate heat pumps keep heating well below zero. If you already have gas, many people keep the furnace as a backup for the coldest week of the year.
