Before you replace a furnace

Most furnaces last 15 to 20 years. If yours is older than that, or needs a repair over about $1,000, it’s worth a quote, and we’ll tell you plainly when a repair makes more sense.

Most furnaces we replace are bigger than the house needs. We size the new one from your house itself, and the right size costs less to buy and runs quieter.

With every new furnace

  • Sized from your house before we quote
  • Installed in one day in most homes
  • Old furnace removed and recycled
  • Town permit pulled and closed
  • Ten-year parts warranty registered for you
  • First tune-up free the following fall

Questions

Will I be without heat?

From about 8 a.m. to mid-afternoon on the day. In a cold snap we bring two electric heaters for the house.

Should I replace the air conditioner too?

If it’s more than 12 years old, or still runs on R-22, which stopped being made in 2020, it’s worth pricing both. Doing them together saves a second install.

Is a high-efficiency furnace worth it?

In most houses here, yes. A 96% furnace burns about a sixth less gas than an 80% one, and the difference in price is usually $800 to $1,200.
